Welcome to HENRYBESTON.COM!
This site was established with three goals in mind. First, we are dedicated to perpetuating the memories of writer-naturalist Henry Beston and his wife, writer Elizabeth Coatsworth. Second, we want to acquaint you with enough of their lives and writing that you may pursue a closer relationship, and deeper appreciation, through their many books. And third, we wish to honor their longtime home, Chimney Farm in Nobleboro, Maine. We see the farm as a living shrine to the lives and work of Henry and Elizabeth, and are working to that end; but perhaps more importantly, we see it also as an undying beacon and safe haven for those of the modern technocratic age, who seek a closer communion with the eternal verities of nature that Henry Beston wrote of so poetically.
